"There’s a kerfuffle of rooks around the oak at the top of the hill.
They claw and scold the cold, sombre sky.
Two ducks fly low in tight formation
Lambs clustered under a tree
Are spooked in a shower of bleats and blossom.
There’s a patch of reeds thick the warm rough smell of fox
For a short while, Penny and I are lost in another world.”
